Employment Type:
Full Time
Veterinary Surgeon
Required Experience:

Applications are now open for a Small Animal Graduate Veterinary Surgeon to join our privately owned, independent mixed practices in Rutland and Leicestershire.

Our 2-year programme is structured to develop all aspects of your clinical work, gaining your own cases and regular clients on both the daytime and out-of-hours rota.

Your 4-day working week will include both consulting and operating time. A midweek set day off is great for a battery re-charge and work-life balance.

You will have your own personal mentor to provide you with one-to-one support and advice, and work alongside a number of certificate holders all of whom are willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

Our training practice in Uppingham is fully equipped with an extensive range of diagnostic facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound and blood machines, along with multiparameter monitoring.

On completion of your first year, you will be enrolled on the XLVets graduate scheme to extend your journey, ensuring that you develop into an accomplished and confident veterinary surgeon.

We take pride in caring for our own patients out of hours on an equally shared rota, a maximum of 1:5. Our experienced, dedicated night nurse team ensure we offer 24-hour on-site care, as well as taking the out-of-hours phone calls. Along with the Monday off after your on-call, the three-day weekend following this is popular among our team.

If you are hardworking, self-motivated and would like to be part of a forward-thinking independent practice, we want to hear from you!

In addition to the above we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary circa £34-36k with a 4 day week
  • RCVS fees paid
  • 5 weeks paid holiday with additional bank holidays
  • Full VDS cover
  • Pension
  • Generous CPD allowance
  • Free flu jabs and VDU eye care vouchers
  • Bonus scheme
  • Staff discount scheme
  • Support and mentorship
  • Team social events
