Programme Outline:
Over 600 XLVets community members have attended the course since partnering with AtLast Training.

David Black, Director at Paragon Veterinary Group, VetSustain and VetSalus on VetSkills Train the Trainer course;

"I still remember what a great few days it was - seeing the other skills that colleagues brought and honing my own teaching skills. But more importantly, the lessons I learnt at the course have continued to shape the way I communicate to this day.  Every day I challenge myself to ask open questions, listen actively, let members of the team shape their own objectives, and support them to meet them.  We have encouraged many members of our team to sign up over the years, and we now regularly run farmer meeting groups based on the outcome-led formula learnt through FarmSkills, VetSkills and Train the Trainer"

Those who have attended the course testify that the people skills and indeed life skills learned have helped them communicate with the whole team back at the practice. This course is also a must for those who wish to eventually register as a Lantra Awards Instructor and present Lantra-approved courses (further two days of training required via the Advanced Train the Trainer course).

  • Planning the content; writing training objectives, analysing skills and preparing instruction plans.

  • Delivering training – preparation and practice leading to a more confident performance.

  • Engagement; the use of questions to involve learners.

  • Learning Styles; self-evaluation, and appreciation of other styles.

  • Creating and using visual aids for impact.

  • Comparing results to objectives.

  • Encouraging self–assessment.

Included: One night's accommodation, breakfast, lunch on both days and evening meal.
Trainer: Vince Holley and Janis Threlkeld, AtLast Training

Testimonials:

"Janis was very engaging and enthusiastic. Taught in a way that you don't realise all the clever ways she is communicating with you until they are highlighted afterwards. This provided a practical clear demonstration of how to use these techniques in my teaching." Gaby George at Westover Farm Vets

‘Very good course, helpful and re-structured the way I approach training.’ Chris Watton at Rutland Veterinary Centre

‘The course was exceedingly well run and engaging.’ Emma Newton at Priory Vet Group
