Conway Road Vets in Colwyn Bay has become the latest member of the XLVets community of independent practices. A small local practice with a family feel, Conway Road Vets has been pleased to welcome a growing number of new clients after extending their premises and adding a range of new facilities. The practice is delighted to join XLVets and is looking forward to collaborating with the community as the future unfolds.

Conway Road Vets has been under the ownership of David Snaith for just over six years. After taking over the practice, David organised extensive renovations and built a modern extension including a specialist orthopaedic operating theatre and a dedicated X-ray suite. “Our aim is to provide a very high standard of care so that local residents can be confident their pet is in safe hands,” David explains. “And we’ve been very pleased to welcome many new clients in recent times.”

The practice has seen rapid growth over the last year, with both their client-base and revenue now up more than 70% on last year’s figures. “We’ve grown mostly through word of mouth, by recommendations from our existing clients,” says David. “This is wonderful to see and we really value the fact that we’re respected amongst the local community.”

David suggests that the team spirit of the practice may help explain its popularity with local residents. “We’re a small friendly team and the clients know our faces and names. We all get on well together and I think that comes across, putting people at their ease,” he says.

Another reason for Conway Road’s growth is the range of services they offer. David has a keen interest in orthopaedic surgery and the practice is able to perform a range of specialist procedures in-house including cruciate ligament repair, fracture repair and patella surgery. Stem cell therapy is also offered in conjunction with the Veterinary Tissue Bank. Additionally, with previous zoo work under his belt, David is pleased to treat a range of exotic pets including lizards and parrots.

As the practice grows, David explains that the support of the XLVets community will be very valuable. “XLVets will help us sustain a high standard of clinical care as we grow,” he says. The practice is already making use of XLVets literature including owner care sheets on looking after pets post orthopaedic surgery, and is looking forward to becoming more involved with the community as time goes on. “We are so pleased to become part of this community,” says David. “It’s great to be in the supportive environment of a group while still preserving our practice’s spirit and its independence.”
